Contusion
A contusion, commonly known as a bruise, is a type of trauma to the body that results in capillary bleeding beneath the skin's surface. It is caused by a blunt force impact to the body, such as being hit with a blunt object or striking a hard surface. A contusion can sometimes be accompanied by swelling and pain at the site of impact. Contusions may range in size and severity, from minor purple discoloration of the skin to large, swollen areas of discoloration. Treatment for contusions typically involves rest, elevation, and application of cold or ice packs to reduce swelling. In more serious cases, medical intervention may be necessary.
