Constipation

Constipation is a condition in which a person has difficulty passing stools, or bowel movements. It is typically characterized by infrequent and difficult bowel movements, straining during defecation, and a feeling of incomplete evacuation. Common causes of constipation include inadequate fiber intake, dehydration, lack of physical activity, certain medications, and medical conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, hypothyroidism, and diabetes. Treatment typically includes dietary changes, increased physical activity, and medications such as laxatives.
