Congestive Heart Failure

Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a condition in which the heart can no longer pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. This results in a buildup of fluid and pressure in the lungs, leading to difficulty breathing, fatigue, and swollen ankles and feet. CHF can occur due to a number of conditions, including coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Treatment may include medications to reduce fluid buildup, lifestyle changes to reduce strain on the heart, and in some cases, surgery.
