Coma

Coma is a state of unconsciousness where a person is unresponsive to their environment and cannot be awakened, even by painful stimulation. It is caused by damage to the brain, either through trauma, severe illness, or a stroke. During a coma, a person's eyes may remain closed, and they may not respond to sound or pain. Breathing may also be shallow and irregular. Medical comas may last for minutes, days, or even weeks. Treatment for a coma usually focuses on the underlying cause and may involve medications, surgery, and supportive care.
