Cholestasis

Cholestasis is a condition that occurs when the flow of bile from the liver is blocked or reduced. Bile is a digestive fluid that helps to break down fat and is produced in the liver. If the flow of bile is blocked, bile can accumulate in the liver and cause a range of symptoms and complications. Common symptoms include itching, jaundice, light-colored stools, dark urine, fatigue, and abdominal pain. Medical Cholestasis can be caused by a variety of conditions, including gallstones, infections, cancer, and certain medications. Treatment may include medications to reduce itching, surgery to remove gallstones, or other treatments depending on the underlying cause.
