Cancer neck
Cancer neck is a type of cancer that affects the neck area. It can develop in any of the structures in the neck, including the lymph nodes, salivary glands, thyroid gland, voice box, and the soft tissues of the neck. It may also spread to other parts of the body. The most common type of cancer neck is squamous cell carcinoma, which develops in the flat, thin cells that line the surface of the neck and other areas of the body. Other types of cancer neck include lymphoma, melanoma, and sarcoma. Cancer neck may start as a symptomless lump, a sore or a lump that does not heal. Other symptoms may include sore throat, difficulty swallowing, neck pain, and changes in the voice. Depending on the type and stage of cancer, treatment may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of these treatments. Early diagnosis is key to improving the chances of successful treatment.
