Cancer bladder
Cancer of the bladder is a type of cancer that affects the organ responsible for storing urine in the body. It is the sixth most common type of cancer in the United States, with more than 80,000 new cases diagnosed each year. Bladder cancer is typically a slow-growing tumor that starts in the lining of the bladder. As the cancer grows, it can invade the deeper layers of the bladder wall, as well as the surrounding organs and lymph nodes. Symptoms of bladder cancer can include blood in the urine (hematuria), pain during urination, and frequent urination. Diagnosis is made through a physical exam, urine tests, and imaging tests. Treatment typically involves surgery to remove the cancer, chemotherapy, and radiation.
