Bursitis

Bursitis is a condition that occurs when the bursae, which are small sacs of fluid located near joints and tendons, become inflamed and swollen. This can cause pain, redness, and tenderness in the affected area. Bursitis is most commonly caused by repetitive use or trauma to the area, such as from activities like running or lifting weights. Other causes of bursitis include infections, underlying medical conditions, and crystal deposits from conditions like gout. Treatment for bursitis usually involves rest, ice, and anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen. In some cases, physical therapy or steroid injections may be prescribed. Surgery may be necessary to remove the bursa if it becomes too large or is causing significant pain.
