Ascariasis

Ascariasis is a type of parasitic infection that is caused by the Ascaris lumbricoides roundworm. It is the most common helminth infection in humans and is spread through contaminated food or water. Symptoms of ascariasis can range from mild to severe and may include abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, and a cough. In some cases, the worms may migrate to other parts of the body, such as the lungs, which can lead to further complications. Treatment typically involves medications that kill the worms and prevent reinfection. Prevention can be achieved by improved sanitation and hygiene, as well as water purification.
