Asbestosis
Asbestosis is a chronic, long-term lung disease caused by the inhalation of asbestos fibers. The fibers become trapped in the lungs, leading to inflammation and scarring of the tissue. As the scarring progresses, the lungs become stiff and less elastic, making it difficult to breathe. Symptoms of asbestosis can include shortness of breath, chest tightness, coughing, and a crackling sound when inhaling. In severe cases, asbestosis can lead to respiratory failure. Asbestosis is an irreversible condition and there is no cure. Treatment focuses on managing symptoms and preventing further damage to the lungs.
