Anuria

Anuria is a condition in which a person does not produce any urine. This is usually caused by a blockage in the urinary tract, such as a kidney stone, or a structural defect of the urinary tract, such as a congenital abnormality or a tumor. In some cases, the cause of anuria is unknown. Anuria is diagnosed by a doctor, who will take a medical history and perform a physical examination. They may also order blood tests and imaging studies, such as an X-ray or CT scan, to help diagnose the condition. Treatment of anuria depends on the underlying cause. If a blockage is present, it may be possible to remove it using surgery or other procedures. If the cause is a structural defect of the urinary tract, treatment may include medications or surgery to correct the defect. In cases in which the cause of anuria is unknown, treatment may include medications to reduce the amount of fluid in the body or to help improve kidney function.
