Altitude Sickness

Altitude sickness is a condition caused by exposure to low levels of oxygen at high altitudes. It can occur when people climb to higher elevations too quickly, without allowing their bodies to gradually adjust to the lower oxygen levels. Symptoms can include headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, and difficulty breathing. In severe cases, it can lead to confusion, loss of coordination, and even coma. Treatment typically includes rest, hydration, and medications such as acetazolamide. In extreme cases, a descent to a lower altitude is necessary.
