Abortion

Abortion is the medical practice of terminating a pregnancy. It is the termination of a pregnancy before the fetus is old enough to survive outside the uterus. Abortion can be either spontaneous (also known as a miscarriage) or induced (performed by a healthcare provider). Depending on the stage of development, an induced abortion can be either a medical or a surgical procedure. The decision to have an abortion is not an easy one and is highly personal. It is one of the most controversial and widely debated ethical issues in society today. Generally, people are either pro-choice, meaning they believe a woman should have the right to choose whether or not to terminate a pregnancy, or they are pro-life, meaning they believe abortion should be illegal. The reasons why someone might choose to have an abortion vary. Common reasons include a lack of financial resources to support a child, a fear of the physical and emotional effects of pregnancy, or a personal belief that abortion is the right choice. Abortion is a complex and emotional issue and there are no easy answers. It is important that people make an informed decision based on their own moral and ethical beliefs.
