Linaclotide

Linaclotide is a medication used to treat adults with irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) and chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC). It is a prescription medicine that works by helping the body to release stool and increase the amount of water in the intestines to help soften and make it easier to pass stool. It also helps to reduce abdominal pain and bloating associated with IBS-C and CIC.

Linaclotide is a prescription medication used to treat chronic constipation and irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) in adults. It is also approved to treat functional constipation in children ages 6 to 17. Linaclotide is sold under the brand names Linzess (in the US and Mexico) and Constella (elsewhere). 

Linaclotide works by increasing fluid in your intestines and helping to speed up the movement of food through your gut. It belongs to a class of drugs called guanylate cyclase-C agonists. Linaclotide is available in capsule form and is typically taken once a day on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before a meal.
