Furazolidone

Furazolidone is a nitrofuran antibacterial used to treat certain bacterial infections of the intestines. It works by killing sensitive bacteria that cause infection. It is used to treat severe diarrhea and other intestinal infections, such as bacterial or protozoal dysentery. Furazolidone may also be used to treat certain urinary tract infections. It is available in tablet or liquid form and is usually taken four times a day for up to two weeks. Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and rash.
