Fomesafen

Herbicide

Fomesafen is not a medical substance. It is an herbicide, a weed killer used in agriculture [1]. It is applied to soil or directly on weeds to control broadleaf weeds in crops like soybeans, dry beans, and some vegetables. Fomesafen works by inhibiting an enzyme called protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO), which is necessary for chlorophyll synthesis in plants. Without chlorophyll, plants cannot grow properly and eventually die.
