Bepotastine

Bepotastine is a 2nd generation antihistamine. It was approved in Japan for use in the treatment of allergic rhinitis and urticaria/pruritus. Bepotastine is available as an ophthalmic solution and oral tablet. It is a direct H1-receptor antagonist that inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells. The ophthalmic formulation has shown minimal systemic absorption, between 1 and 1.5% in healthy adults. Common side effects are eye irritation, headache, unpleasant taste, and nasopharyngitis

Bepotastine is a second-generation antihistamine medication used to treat allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and allergic conjunctivitis (itchy, watery eyes). It works by blocking the action of histamine, a chemical in the body that causes allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and hives.

Bepotastine is available in two forms:

  • Eye drops: This form is used to treat itchy, watery eyes caused by allergies.
  • Tablets: This form is available in some countries but not in the United States. It is used to treat hay fever symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy, watery eyes.

Bepotastine is a relatively new medication that has been shown to be effective and safe for the treatment of allergies. It is typically well-tolerated, with few side effects. The most common side effects of bepotastine eye drops are burning, stinging, or irritation of the eyes. The most common side effects of bepotastine tablets are headache, dry mouth, and fatigue.

Bepotastine is available by prescription only. It is important to talk to your doctor about whether bepotastine is right for you.
