Neltenexine

Neltenexine is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. It is a calcium channel blocker, which works by relaxing the blood vessels and allowing blood to flow more easily. It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and death in people who have had a heart attack or stroke. Neltenexine can also be used to treat certain types of chest pain (angina).

Neltenexine is a medication sold under the trade name Alveoten. It is classified as a mucolytic, which means it loosens mucus in the airways. It is also an elastase inhibitor, which means it helps prevent the breakdown of elastin, a protein that helps keep the lungs elastic.

Neltenexine is an amide derivative of ambroxol and thiophenecarboxylic acid. It has been studied as a potential treatment for pulmonary emphysema, a condition that causes the air sacs in the lungs to break down. However, more research is needed to determine its effectiveness for this purpose.

Neltenexine is available in capsule form and is typically taken three times a day. The most common side effects of neltenexine are nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. It is important to note that neltenexine should not be used by people who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
