Micafungin is an antifungal medication used to treat fungal infections, such as Candida infections of the blood, abdomen, heart, brain, and urinary tract. It is also used to prevent Candida infections in adults and children who are undergoing certain medical procedures. Micafungin is a member of the echinocandin class of medications and works by stopping the growth of fungi. It is available as a solution for injection or as a powder for reconstitution into a solution for intravenous infusion.
