Carbofuran

Carbofuran is a carbamate insecticide with a wide insecticidal spectrum, being also used as a miticide.

Carbofuran 2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethylbenzofuran-7-yl methylcarbamate

Carbofuran is not a medical substance. It is a highly toxic pesticide that was previously used on various crops like corn and rice. It was banned for agricultural use in the United States in 2010 due to its high risk of poisoning to humans and wildlife.

Exposure to carbofuran can occur through inhalation, ingestion, or skin absorption. Symptoms of carbofuran poisoning can range from mild to severe, and can include:

  • Weakness
  • Sweating
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Abdominal pain
  • Blurred vision
  • Muscle twitching
  • Loss of coordination
  • Difficulty breathing

In severe cases, carbofuran poisoning can lead to coma and death.

If you suspect that you or someone you know has been exposed to carbofuran, it is important to seek medical attention immediately. There is no specific antidote for carbofuran poisoning, but treatment can help to manage the symptoms and prevent complications.
